Simonetti & Sullivan Sporting Goods has a long, rich history in New Jersey. Founded in 1936 by Nick Simonetti as Simonetti’s Sport Shop, the business took on its current name in 1939 when Nick partnered with Len Sullivan. This Jersey City landmark soon became the “hangout” for many local and professional sports figures. During his tenure at St. Cecelia’s of Englewood, Coach Vince Lombardi outfitted his teams with uniforms and equipment from Simonetti and Sullivan Sporting Goods.
In the 1970’s, second generation owner Louis “Bud” Simonetti began to view Monmouth and Ocean Counties as “Hudson County South”, decided the store’s future belonged there, and set about finding the perfect new location. In May 1981, Simonetti and Sullivan Sport Shop opened in Peddler’s Village (now Circle Factory Outlet Center) in Wall Township. The tradition moved to the Jersey Shore!
Simonetti and Sullivan continues to thrive in its Wall location, now owned and operated by third generation family member, Suzanne Rosace. Technology and fashion have changed over the past several decades, and Simonetti’s combines the best of the traditional with Rawlings, Wilson, Wigwam and Converse with the best of the new, including Nike, Adidas, Reebok and JanSport.
Simonetti’s is a very special place to shop, with its family-oriented, friendly atmosphere. As it has for more than 70 years, the focus remains on service, and you will feel the difference every time you enter the store. “Everyone has a great Simonetti’s story,” says Suzanne. “The best compliment we receive is when a grandparent brings a grandchild into the store and shares one of those stories with us and with their grandchild.”
